BURNT SOUL
As a human living in this century where people heavily rely on the digital world, especially a gen z, what is our experience on a deeper level with social media? How much anxiety has it brought to you? Do you feel more connected to the world or less connected? In this collection, I want to discover more about the relationship between social media and mental health wellness, and explore how it affects one another. I want to really dig in my inner self, dissect my thoughts and struggles with social media influences, and bring out some very personal feelings that might even be a bit horrific to reveal. This collection also reflects the surveys sent out to Gen Z participants and their experience dealing with social media anxiety. Underneath our hard-looking skin, what are we really thinking and feeling? Are we really that strong as how people perceives us as Gen Z?
Pattern inspirations are extracted from electrocardiography and some mark-makings and painting I did to express my emotions. Colors and fabric choices symbolize skin, blood, and flesh. The sheerness of materials illustrates the fragile and broken soul of this generation.
